The Secret to Getting What You Want in Business

In this episode I want to talk with you about the secret to getting what you want in business.

Generally speaking, when we ask a client what they’re most excited about to achieve this week, their response is usually outcome driven.  For example, they may say that they’re going to enroll three clients.  You need to ask yourself if you have control over enrolling three clients and they answer to that question is no.

If you want to get what you want in business and in life, you need to focus on things you can control.  In other words, you need to focus on the process and not the outcome.

It’s easy to get lost scrolling through social media and comparing yourself to others, but truth be told, you don’t know what’s really happening behind the scenes with these people and what their metrics are.

Yes, while you do need to focus on the things you can control, you need to know what are the things you need to do that are effective efficient and how to be proficient.  That comes with perspective and guidance of someone, such as a coach, who can look at your business objectively and guide you on what it is you need to do to be effective, efficient and proficient.  If you’re not investing in your business, you’re not growing.

If your business is not where you want it to be and you’re feeling stuck, I invite you to go to workwithyuri.comwhere you can book a 45 minute call with us and we will do a free audit of your business.

What You Missed

In our last episode I talked about the irresistible offer equation.   This is an important concept because this is the most consistent reason why health, fitness and wellness experts don’t make the money they want to make is because they don’t have this irresistible offer equation dialed in.

There’s a big difference between selling people what they want vs. what you think they need.

An irresistible offer is so good that it cannot be refused and offers a tremendous amount of value.

What you spend money on is a clarification of your values.

There are typically 4 big motivators of why people buy called APES.  If you tap into one of these 4 motivators, it will make your offer more desirable with a higher sales conversion.

Listen to this episode to find out how to establish value to make your offer more desirable.

What You Missed

In our last episode, I had the one and only Craig Ballantyne who just came out with a new book called The Perfect Week Formula.

When it comes to productivity, discipline and structure, Craig is the go to guy.

Craig’s book, The Perfect Week Formula, is designed to help you build your business around your life, and not your life around your business.  Stop sacrificing your life for your business by making a few of the right choices by leveraging your time.

During our conversation, Craig talks about leveraging your time throughout your day not by adding more, but by subtracting the things that distract you that aren’t a good use of your time.

He also offered a great insight during our conversation where he said to be the best at less rather than mediocre at more.

Craig dropped a ton of knowledge bombs throughout our conversation so you’ll want to be sure to watch this in it’s entirety and pay close attention.

The Perfect Week Formula with Craig Ballantyne

Hey, hey, Healthpreneurs!  I’ve got a special guest on today’s episode. The one and only Craig Ballantyne who just came out with a new book called The Perfect Week Formula.

I’m excited to talk about some of the concepts in the book with him and how it can help you.

When it comes to productivity, discipline and structure, Craig is the go to guy.

Craig initially wrote The Perfect Day Formula book and after seeing some questions that he didn’t address in his Perfect Day Formula book, he decided to address those issues in The Perfect Week Formula.

Craig’s book is designed to help you build your business around your life, and not your life around your business.  Stop sacrificing your life for your business by making a few of the right choices by leveraging your time.

What You Missed

On our last episode I talked about an experiment I did with my coach, Alex Charfen, on an activity called a time study which is basically tracking every minute of your day in 15 minute time blocks.

It was quite and eye opening experience. After tracking your time for two weeks, you begin to see patterns emerge and you begin to identify what activities are strategic, what are tactical, what is self-care time and what is family time.

One of the biggest insights I got is that I should be doing less tactical work in my business. Part of the journey in growing your business is relinquishing control. And so I need to stop doing things and empower my team to take care of those things.

I’ve also realized that doing this study is a great way to improve behaviors not just for yourself, but for your clients and team as well.

If you missed this episode and you’d like to give this a try, you can check it out right here:  What I Learned By Tracking Every Minute of My Day.

What I Learned By Tracking Every Minute of My Day

A few weeks ago I did an experiment with my coach, Alex Charfen, on an activity called a time study which is basically tracking every minute of your day in 15 minute time blocks.

Although I was initially resistant to to this, in the process of doing this, some really great insights started to appear.

The reason why this is important is because we think we are using our time wisely.  When you document this, you can’t even begin to realize how much waste there is.

After tracking for two weeks you begin to see patterns emerge and you begin to identify what activities are strategic, what is tactical, what is self-care time and what is family time.

What You Missed

Every so often I get asked the question who coaches me?  That’s an important question that I addressed in our last episode.

To help give you some perspective on this topic, I shared my history of who I’ve worked with in the past and where I am now.

I’ve worked with some great people who have been able to give me insights and perspectives I would have never had, had I not invested in coaching and tried to figure everything out by myself.

When I look back at what I’ve spent on coaches, masterminds and events, I don’t look at it as a cost, I look at it as an investment.  It would be incongruent for me to be coaching people without having coaching myself.  If you’re not growing, you have nothing to give people.

If you missed it, you can find out who coaches me right here.

Who Coaches Yuri

Every so often I get asked the question who coaches me?  That’s an important question that I want to address and share with you.

Just know that anytime you work with someone, you get their lens of their experiences.  You may have heard me mention this in previous episodes, are you the type of client you want to attract?

So I thought I’d give you a history of who I’ve worked with in the past and where I am now.

The Evolution Who Has Coached Me Over The Years And Where I Am Now

I came online in 2006 thinking I could figure all this out by myself and after three years of struggling and not bringing in any income, I knew I had to get help but didn’t know anyone.

In 2010 I attended an online marketing event where I met Bedros Keuilian who became my first coach.  He and Craig Ballantyne ran and still run a mastermind together and through Bedros it was how I met Craig.  They were my first two business coaches who have both built very large businesses and a learned a ton from them.

From there I evolved and joined Joe Polish’s Genius Network which is for very high level entrepreneurs.  After two years with them, I realized I had a deficit in how I thought about business and didn’t really know much about building a team.

I had been introduced to Dan Sullivan and joined his Strategic Coaching program. What I learned from his was framework based thinking, higher level conceptual thinking where I was able to move away from me doing everything to begin building people around me to support the bigger vision.

Two years ago I started working with Taki Moore who I met at Strategic Coach.  I was looking to scale my coaching business from a delivery and program structure standpoint and that’s what Taki is amazing at and I’m at his highest level boardroom program.  The cool thing is that I have access to all kinds of amazing coaches in various industries and learning a ton from them.

I’ve recently joined Alex Charfen who is the world’s leading consultant for helping businesses scale properly with operations and systems.

Someone I’m working with, not as a coach, but who happens to be a good friend of mine is Nicholas Kusmich who is the world’s leading Facebook ads strategist.  We teach Facebook ads to our clients and have run my own Facebook ad campaigns for years and handed that over to Nicholas about two years ago because he’s the best in the business at that.

How I Am Better Able To Serve My Clients And My Team From Being Coached

When I’m sharing with you what’s working for us, not only is it coming from “in the trenches” experience, it also comes from the highest possible levels.  When I look back at what I’ve spent on coaches, masterminds and events, I don’t look at it as a cost, I look at it as an investment.  It would be incongruent for me to be coaching people without having coaching myself.  If you’re not growing, you have nothing to give people.  You have to constantly be outgrowing your clients and your team.

If you’re looking to scale your business to the next level to where you get a steady stream of clients to automatically attract your perfect clients day in and day out then I invite you to go to www.workwithyuri.comwhere you can book a call with us and we will audit your business and tell you where your business is bleeding money and how to get on the right track.

What You Missed

In our last episode, I was joined by two special guests, my sons Oscar and Arlo to talk about how to get good at anything.

When you watch this episode, you’ll understand why I’ve brought them on for a very specific reason as it relates to this topic.

If there’s something we don’t like doing, chances are is because it may be something we don’t understand or we’re just not good at.  If we keep plugging away, eventually we’ll understand it, become better at it and you’ll begin to like it.

Keep in mind that every master was once a disaster so whatever you may be good at now, you once sucked at when you first started.

Here’s the caveat.  Yes it’s important to practice, however, having the right guidance to learn how to do something correctly is key.  You can practice doing something the wrong way and become very good at doing it wrong.

When you’re first starting your business, no one starts out being a great copywriter or being great on the phone.  With the right guidance and practice, it’s something you will get good at doing over time.

This applies to just about anything, not just business as you’ll see with two of my sons, Arlo and Oscar.

You can catch it all right here:  How To Get Good At Anything

Why Most Partnerships Fail

What’s happening Healthpreneurs.  Today’s episode was inspired by a post in our group page about looking to form a partnership.  I’m sorry to say, but forming a partnership is not a good idea.

Nevermind the fact that statistically speaking, most partnerships, whether they are personal or business end up failing.

That’s not to say that partnerships can’t be successful. Partnerships that have complimentary skill sets can be successful.  The different skill sets that each person brings to the table complements each other and forms a complete unit.

When you partner up with someone who has the same skill sets, you’re going to butt heads.  For example, when you have a partnership where both people are visionaries and both are good at sales and marketing, you’re going to butt heads.

If you are going to partner with someone or bring on team members, you need to clearly define what I call “The Four R’s”:

What are the Roles, Responsibilities, Requirements and Results.

People want to know how to be successful and when you clearly define these four “R’s”, people know what to shoot for to define success.

It’s better to hire a team than a partnership.  If things are working out, it’s easier to fire a team member than it is to buy out your partner.

Here’s what I’d like you to chew on.

If you’re looking to partner with someone figure out what it is you’re trying to avoid doing.  If it’s a major part of your business, you probably should figure it out first. Once you’ve gotten a handle on it, then you can think about who you’d like to bring into your business to handle that thing.

If you this is something you need help with, I invite you to go to workwithyuri.com where you can book a call with us.  We’ll help you figure out where you’re at, where you want to go and help put together a game plan to get you there.

What You Missed

In our last episode I shared with you what’s happening in 2020,  what’s happening with us, Healthpreneur and how it may help serve you to grow your business.

One of the things happening in 2020 I am super pumped about is our live event Healthpreneur Live ™ which is happening September 25 – 27 in Scottsdale Arizona.  This event is not like other events.  It’s not a pitch fest. You’ll be surrounded by 250 amazing health and fitness professionals who are doing amazing things to build their business on line.

This event is like rocket fuel for your coaching business.

If you want to know more about what this event is like and take advantage of our 1/2 off early bird special, I invite you to go to healthpreneurgroup.com/live.

Personally for me, right now I’m traveling for 5 months from January 1 – June 1 with my wife and kids.  We’ll be going to Australia for 2 1/2 months and then off to Italy for 2 months.  Yes, I will still be running the business, but will also be able to enjoy a fun adventure with my family.

To do this, I’ve set up my business so that I can enjoy time travelling with my family without compromising anything in my business and in this episode, I share with you exactly how I’ve done that so you can do the same thing too, even with with kids!

If you ever want to improve how your business operates, you may want to think about taking some time off.  Ask yourself what would need to be in place in your business for you not to be present in it for a month?

What kind of systems would you need in place?  What kind of people would you need in place?

I promise it will make you think about your business in a way you never have before and as I said, will improve how your business operates.

What do you have planned for your business in 2020?  Where do you want to take your business?  What is your mission?

I’m excited for this year and I hope you are too and if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to me.

The Untold Danger of 1-on-1 Coaching

I’m going to say this right out the gate and tell you that 1-on-  coaching is not good for your business or your clients.

If someone is going to show you how to build systems to bring business and generate revenue, and they’re a “solo-preneur”, that’s a bit of a red flag.

As a client, you are reliant on that one coach for everything and if that person is not feeling well, or going through some personal crises, you’re left holding the bag.

If someone has a good coaching program, they have a system and process built out to where the business does not rely on them showing up every day.

Everyone starts off doing one-on-one coaching to get proof of concept.  After awhile, this type of coaching leads to burn out and you can’t scale the business.

Your next step would be coaching one-to-many which then creates leverage and more money.  The challenge with this is not becoming a “cog in the wheel”.  This is where you develop your “proprietary process” and deliver it to your clients without them having to rely on your availability.  This is how I was able to scale and grow Healthpreneur.

The highest level of your coaching ladder would be team to many. This is the level where our business is operating right now.  At this level your business is thriving, you have more freedom and your clients have access to top level coaches.  It’s a win-win for everyone.

Essentially, this is the track you want your business to take but you have to know how to do this.

If you want help with this, go to workwithyuri.com and where you can book a call with us and we can help map out your proprietary process.  We can help you build out a leveraged coaching program where you’re not a cog in the wheel.

In This Episode I discuss:

That’s not to say that partnerships can’t be successful. Partnerships that have complimentary skill sets can be successful.  The different skill sets that each person brings to the table complements each other and forms a complete unit and is the foundation for successful partnerships.

In this episode, I share with you something I use in my business called “The Four R’s” which I highly recommend you put in place before bringing anyone into your company either as a team member or a partner.

Before bringing a partner or a team member into your business, here’s something I’d like for you to think about before doing so.

Figure out what it is you’re trying to avoid doing.  If it’s a major part of your business, you probably should figure it out first. Once you’ve gotten a handle on it, then you can think about who you’d like to bring into your business to handle that thing.

How to Get Good at Anything

Today I’m joined by 2 special munchkin guests, Oscar and Arlo and we’re going to talk about how to get good at anything.
